In a surprising twist, amd has today announced that it intends to enable ryzen 4000 and zen 3 support on its older b450 and x470 motherboards. Apparently asus won't support any of their b450 or x470 boards for zen 3. While amd doesn't officially support zen 2 processors on 300 series motherboards, they did invest engineering time to make it work and provided motherboard makers with the necessary agesa code for support.
